Today, often faith and dominion teaching go together. It results in a very aggressive and forceful form of the gospel. Such meetings emphasise your taking dominion and your role as co-labourers with the Lord. Even praise and worship takes on a different character where this doctrine is emphasised.
This form of the gospel is very different and contrary to the Classical Christian foundation which is needed today.
The foundation text is
For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
The key to dominion or reigning in life is given in Romans 6-8 - the chapters AFTER the foundation text. In a nutshell, it is Classical Christianity which emphasises the death of the self life. The abundance of grace comes as we progress in the journey in which our self life dies.
If we are established and rooted in this foundation, dominion is only of God and none of self and it has a very different character to that which was described in the opening paragraph. It comes as we are drawn by God into the Holy of holies and are overshadowed by His manifest Presence and in the place where our will becomes one with His will.
